It’s finally finished! After a quick start, in which the main structure was erected in about 10 days (!), some financial delays occurred and the work progressed quite slowly for a while. The structure is in X-lam 10cm panels (cross laminated timber) with external insulation made of 12cm thick wood fiber panels (18cm on the roof). The result is a super-performing house (energy certificate A+), warm in the winter and cool in the summer, earthquake resistant (due to the wood, a light and flexible material), ecological and efficient. And also very comfortable, and this is the main aspect which is not quantifiable but extremely important. Wood has been used in lots of different variation: spruce for the slam structure, larch matchboards for external cladding, reclaimed rough planks for internal cladding (living area), oak parquet floor, oak boards for shower trays, etc.
